What is your (professional) life motto and why?

‘A recurring theme in my life has been, and continues to be, caring for and looking after people. People who are struggling, who need advice, or who want to live their lives comfortably. And also people who are relying on a pension to maintain their standard of living. I want to be there for those people. It’s not primarily about money, although that is necessary to get things done. People’s lives deserve to be the priority.’

What book would you recommend to our readers, and why?

‘In the book *De Wisselwachter*, Geert Mak describes the political situation in the US in the 1930s and during the Second World War. What happened in Europe back then, and the US’s reactions to it, bear many similarities to what we are experiencing now. It is striking how little we learn from the past.’
